Information You Should Avoid
Not everything you read or hear during an emergency is accurate. Misinformation can create unnecessary fear, confusion, and potentially dangerous situations.
Be cautious of:
Social media rumours: Unverified Facebook posts, community group discussions, and shared screenshots.
Outdated information: Old emergency notices, photographs, or videos being shared as though they are current.
Unofficial evacuation notices: Never rely on evacuation instructions that cannot be verified through official emergency management channels.
Speculation and hearsay: Information based on what someone heard from a friend, neighbour, or unidentified source.
Unverified AI-generated content: Images, videos, or messages that may appear authentic but have been altered or fabricated.
